Established in 1922, John Kosovich Wines is a family run business producing award-winning wines in small, handmade batches with fruit from their Swan Valley and Pemberton vineyards. Winemaker Anthony Kosovich hired me to redesign their labels to be more consistent while recognising the rich history of the family.
I created a modern version of the Kosovich family crest, (originally from 1389!), and designed wine labels with raised map markings from the Mountain Viter in Croatia on the Dalmation coast where the family are from. The story of the three blackbirds in the crest was about three brothers traveling. I extracted the idea of these birds and illustrated them separately to make them more refined.
Try the Chardonnay, Verdelho and Fortifieds. The original hand-dug cellar from the ’20s still remains and serves as their cellar door.
